You will fly into Panama City first, then catch a one-hour domestic flight to Bocas del Toro. Our team meets you at the Bocas airport with cold drinks and a car for your bags. The boat ride to the island is fifteen minutes.
To Panama City
Panama City's Tocumen International Airport (PTY) is the gateway. Major US carriers fly direct from Miami, Houston, Atlanta, JFK, Newark, LAX, and Orlando. Copa Airlines, Panama's flag carrier, connects from most major Latin American and US cities and is our default recommendation. Panama is Copa's hub, which means more daily options and tighter onward timing for your connection to Bocas.
The Transfer From Tocumen To Albrook
The domestic flight to Bocas leaves from Marcos A. Gelabert International Airport (PAC), in the Albrook district of Panama City. PAC and Tocumen are two different airports, roughly thirty to forty minutes apart by car. Plan for two to three hours between your international arrival and your Bocas departure.
Our team meets you at the airport in Panama City and points you to your private shuttle to Albrook.
To Bocas
From Albrook (PAC) to Bocas del Toro (BOC), it is a one-hour flight on Air Panama with multiple daily departures. On the descent over the archipelago, the window seat is worth fighting for.
If you would rather set your own schedule, private aircraft can fly straight into Bocas del Toro International Airport (BOC), and FlyTrip and FlyBocas both fly charters direct from Panama City in Kodiak Quest 100s and Grand Caravans. If that is how you would like to arrive, let us know and we will line it up.
Traveling With Pets
Pets are welcome on the island, and the paperwork has real steps: a health certificate from your vet, a stamp from a Panamanian consulate before you fly, a rabies shot at least a month old, and advance notice to Panama's health ministry before arrival. Most domestic flights to Bocas accept small pets in the cabin; charter is usually easier for larger animals. Tell our team as early as you can and we will walk you through every step, so nothing holds up your dog at the airport.
A Quick Note On Visas
Most nationalities, including the US, Canada, the UK, and the EU, enter Panama visa-free for tourist stays, though the exact number of days allowed varies by passport. Panama's own minimum is a passport valid three months past your entry date, but airlines often ask for six, so six is the safer number to travel with. Immigration can also ask for a return or onward ticket and proof of at least five hundred dollars for your stay. We recommend checking your own country's current guidance before you book, and our team is always happy to help you confirm the specifics.
To The Island
When you land in Bocas del Toro, our team is there to meet you and take your bags. You are escorted to the private boat at the dock, and the ride is fifteen minutes through calm Caribbean water and the mangrove pass that opens onto our island.
